C. H. BENCCI-HARRISON HOME

   C. H. BENCCI WAS MAYOR OF BROWNWOOD FROM 1905 TO 1907.  HE WAS MANAGER OF THE BROWNWOOD COTTON SEED OIL MILL AND A "WILD-CATTER" IN THE E OIL BUSINESS.
THIS HOUSE WAS ORIGINALLY BUILT AS A 1 1/2 STORY "GINGERBREAD" HOME AND WAS LOCATED CLOSER TO THE STREET.  A FIRE RAVAGED THE TOP PORTION, VIRTUALLY DESTROYED IT, AND IT WAS REBUILT AS A 2 STORY COLONIAL HOME.  AT THIS SAME TIME IT WAS MOVED BACK FROM THE STREET TO BE IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE OTHER NEIGHBORING HOMES.
